This Sale is Now Closed. Thanks for considering.
Dear friends,
I am excited to announce my first Collector’s Edition print!
This is the first photograph offered in the Limited Edition Collector’s Series. I will offer one photograph for sale each year as a special limited edition.
I have sold at art galleries and exhibits in the past, however this is the first time I am offering a limited edition of a selected photograph. It is one of my favorite night sky images!
About the image:
I dreamed of seeing the spectacular aurora borealis, or the northern lights and photographing them. I had seen only glimpses of them on past trips. On this occasion, I headed to Alaska with a friend. We drove past the arctic circle on the Haul Road. It was mostly uninhabited and desolate except we spotted a few dall sheep.
We had several days of cloudy nights and some faint aurora light. However on the fifth night, while waiting along the Koyakuk river’s edge, the aurora appeared! The moon had set, allowing very little light on the mountains or river but the lights reflected on the river, illuminating it, and some of the mountains too. The curtain of light reached into the night sky. It was more powerful than I imagined! Enthralled with the show as the lights swayed in the sky, I almost forgot to photograph it but I am so glad I did!
